Everything’s Good

The interceptions were pretty much the only thing that kept us from looking like ourselves on Sunday agains the Lions. Matt Ryan still threw for almost 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, Devonta Freeman still rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, and our receiving core still did what they’re known to do; Julio with 7 catches for 91 yards, Taylor Gabriel with 5 for 79 yards with a 40 yard touchdown reception, and Sanu with 4 catches for 28 and giving us our touchdown of the game. Everything still looked in sync, so there’s no need for people to say we were “exposed” or any of the other stuff people say when a good team isn’t having a particularly good game. I mean Matt threw 3 picks and we STILL scored 30 points and WON the game, so there’s no need for the shenanigans. We’re going to make some slight adjustments at home during the week and get ready for Week 4 agains the Bills back at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Our defense made plays where they counted all throughout the game, including the controversial play at the end. However, penalties by our defensive backfield caused the Lions to get into the position they needed to be in to try to win the game. Only thing there is to say about that is that we have to be smarter about how we our coverage and be more aware of in game situations. That’ll keep us from having to make desperate plays which is usually what causes penalties on defensive backs. Those are just things that we have to keep in the back of our minds on defense because everything else is pretty much there physically. We have the speed, skills, and the pass rushers to stick with any offense, we just gotta stay disciplined and play ball the way we know how. By the way the defense is set up, I’ll say that there will be a few games this season where teams won’t be able to score more than 10 points on us.
