Aaron Gordon looking to avenge last year's defeat

The field has been set for the 2017 Verizon Slam Dunk, headlined by Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, 2016's runner up in a battle for the ages against reigning two-time champion Zach LaVine. Gordon took the basketball world by storm, throwing down never before seen dunks, putting the dunk contest back on the map. The talent featured in this year's contest has many anticipating one of if not the best ever, hard to imagine after what we witnessed in 2016. Gordon's competition includes Indiana Pacers rookie Glenn Robinson III, Clippers All-Star center DeAndre Jordan, and high flying internet sensation Derrick Jones jr.of the Phoenix Suns.

However, to the surprise of many, LaVine will not take part in this year's competition, ending his run on a high, going out on top. Teammate Andrew Wiggins recently recorded LaVine doing a 360 dunk from the free-throw line on his snapchat story, hinting at a possible three peat.
