MLB Rumors: Adam Lind to the Phillies?
The Philadelphia Phillies are having a busy off-season acquiring veteran talent that they can possibly trade at the deadlline mid-season. Could 1B/DH Adam Lind be the next veteran to sign with the Phillies this off-season? The Phillies are in need of left handed power and Lind could platoon with Tommy Joseph at first. Coming off a rough year and the fact that so many power bats are available this off-season could mean Lind lands in Philly in 2017.
Lind hit .239 with 20 homeruns and 58 RBI in 126 games with the Seattle Mariners in 2016. Lind is only 32 years old and has six seasons with 20 homeruns or more under his belt. A proven power bat in the MLB that the Phillies could get for less than 10 million a year and possibly trade him at the deadline to help their rebuild.
Lind is going to have trouble finding a good deal this off-season for multiple years especially after his 2016 campaign. Could be a smart idea to take 5 or 6 million with the Phillies and attempt to regain his value for next off-season. This is a deal that makes sense to me and should be good for both parties.
