College Football Week 5
??This is going to get very, very crazy.
All offseason the call was for Louisville to get to the College Football Playoff. But to do that, Clemson would have to lose to Georgia Tech, and that didn’t happen, so now it comes down to Louisville vs. Clemson this Saturday. The winner will end up in the CFP, and the loser in the New Year’s Six.
The big problem down the dial will be the openings and lack of options from the ACC and Big Ten. Meanwhile, the Pac-12 will almost certainly have at least two teams looking for a home, the Big 12 will have to find a spot for one team – since neither conference will get a team into the CFP – and the Army will be bowl eligible without a set spot.
The biggest funk happening in the playoff continues to be the Group of 5 star. If it’s not Houston – there’s a projected loss along the way – then a 13-0 Mountain West champion should be deep in the mix for it. If not, then a second Big Ten team – put in Wisconsin if it beats Michigan this Saturday – or possible an 11-1 second place team in the ACC Atlantic could get in.
