Stream of Consciousness Sports Talk

Okay now.

Let's delve into Deflategate. This is actually a very simple issue, as far as I can tell. Anyone, on either side, should be and probably has taken this as a fair indicator that the NFL has essentially almost run itself into the ground. Yes, it is still technically 'America's Sport' and it's no surprise when you hear that a hundred thousand people each paid at least seventy five dollars to watch a game. The money is still there, that can't be disputed. Additionally, this specific issue isn't even what I think will ultimately cause the demise of the sport and the league. The apathy and dismissive nature with which the higher-ups in the league have dealt with concussions has that covered. But, I think it's one of the more blatant indicators that the inmates are running the asylum at this point.

I, as with everyone who isn't a Patriots fan, an not huge on Tom Brady. I think he's a good quarterback with a bigger arm than you would think who plays in an elite system with an elite coach and elite coordinators. Not that the Patriots could be what they are without him, but I think that's much more likely than Tom Brady being what he is without the Patriots.

Let's just call Deflategate what is actually is, essentially a NFL edition of the red scare. There was some smoke, albeit smoke coming from the Colts dumpster fire that occurred in the playoffs that year, and Roger Goodell, our fearless leader, decided that there was gonna be fire whether it made sense or not. It reminds me a little bit of the election process that we are currently going through. Tom Brady is playing the part of Hillary, clearly not innocent in a lot of ways but also being lambasted for something he either didn't do or did while nobody cared and is irritatingly being put on trial retroactively. That leaves Roger Goodell as Donald Trump, which is a comparison I enjoy quite a bit. They're both woefully in over their heads, nobody has any real idea how we decided to give them so much responsibility, and they cover up their shortcomings by throwing baseless accusations toward easy targets to make themselves seem less incompetent by comparison. Good television but super stupid when you actually start to analyze it in depth. All i know is that if you're commissioner of the NFL and you can't get along with Robert Kraft, you're some kinda stupid.
