Giannis Antetokounmpo: An Emerging Superstar
Even though Giannis Antetokounmpo has had a very good NBA career thus far, there is a strong possibility that next season is the season that catapults him into the emerging superstar category. This is because the Milwaukee Bucks have officially decided to hand over the reins of the offense to Giannis Antetokounmpo since the organization thinks he has the skill set to be able to create more open/ easier shots for the rest of the team. Due to the fact that his best attributes on the basketball court is the ability to pass the ball, able to see the entire court and get to the basket as a result of this, the organization is going to implement an offensive system similar to that of LeBron James. Where he would have the paint relatively empty so that he is able to put pressure on the defense to make a decision on whether they will double-team him or not. If the defense double-teams he will most likely pass it to the perimeter for an open shot. If they do not he will shoot a jumper or drive depending on whether the defense sags off or plays close to him.
While most people may think that the increase in offensive responsibility will hurt the impact that Giannis Antetokounmpo can have on the defensive end because of a lack of energy that most likely won't be the case. This is because he tends to sag off of the player he is guarding most of the time to provide help defense, play the passing lanes and/or rotating over to the open man with the hopes of creating a turnover which may lead to a fast break opportunity for his team. As a result of being mostly a roamer on defense, there will be some possessions where he will be able to rest because his teammates will not need help to keep their man in front of them.
If Giannis continues to display this type of skill set he will increase his individual statistics to the point where he is averaging double-digit points, near double digit rebounds and over five assists for most of the season the mainstream media will start to talk about him in the same way as Kawahi Leonard.
Ive been trying to warn people that Kawhi Leonard has a long way to go before he reaches superstardom https://t.co/y0bmrsrcJE
