Lakers Back on Top, Clinch #1 Seed in the West

The Los Angeles Lakers are kings of the Western Conference once again.

The Lakers beat the Utah Jazz 116-108 to clinch the top spot in the west and the Pacific Division title.

Anthony Davis delivered another dominant performance with 42 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James added 22 points 8 rebounds and 9 assists.

The duo of James and Anthony has proven to be a success all season long as the Lakers have officially broken a six year playoff drought. From the moment Davis put on a Laker uniform there were high expectations for the franchise that seemed to be dormant for years, those expectations have been succeeded so far but the playoffs are a different animal from the regular season.

The road doesn't get easier for LA, as they could possibly face a young up-and-coming Memphis Grizzlies team or Dame Lillard and the Portland Trailblazers in the 1st round, and the Los Angeles Clippers or the Houston Rockets in the following rounds. Clinching the top spot in any conference is reason to celebrate but there's a lot more work to be done for LeBron and company.

The last time the Lakers had the #1 seed in the Western Conference was in 2009 and 2010 when they won back to back championships, we'll see if history repeats itself.
