3 goal third period lifts Penguins over Sharks
It was a Stanley Cup Finals rematch from last season, and it turned out to be exciting just like the Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins trailed 2 to 0 heading into the third-period, and Patric Hornqvist scored the game-winning power-play goal with under 6 minutes remaining.
He also had a goal overturned in the second-period when they were trailing 1 to 0. Hornqvist apparently hit the puck with his glove instead of his stick.
In the second period, the Sharks scored two goals by Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau. It seemed as if the Penguins were dead in the water.
The Penguins were down to 4-defenseman in the third-period. Olli Maatta and Derrick Pouliot didn't return to the game because of injury. Kris Letang was already out with an injury of his own.
In the third period, Evgeni Malkin scored a goal and it gave them life. A few minutes later, Scott Wilson scored and tied the game.
Marc-Andre Fleury kept them in the game to give them a chance to win by stopping 32 shots. Martin Jones stopped 17 shots for the Sharks. These teams will play each other one more time.
