Big Day for Cleveland Sports as both Cavs and Indians Victorious

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

For over half a century, Cleveland was a sports town known for its heart break and failure year after year. Just a few months ago, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Finals over the Golden State Warriors. Last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers raised the banner at Quicken Loans Arena.

Right across the street at Progressive Field, the Cleveland Indians played Game 1 of the World Series against the Chicago Cubs. This is the first time since 1997 the Cleveland Indians made the World Series. What a time to be alive if you're a Cleveland Cavs or Indians fan, but not a Browns fan though.

Melech Bialo, a Cleveland Cavs and Indians fan said, "greatest night ever but we got 3 more Wins to get to first." If the Indians win the World Series, this will be the second time this year a team from Cleveland winning the championship.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were victorious against the New York Knicks 117 to 88. Lebron James had a triple-double with 19 points 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Kevin Love had a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. They played well in transition all night.

The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago Cubs 6 to 0 in Game 1 of the World Series.  Corey Kluber pitched 6 strong innings and struck out 9 batters. Roberto Perez hit 2 home-runs and had 4 RBI's in the game. Game 2 is tonight.
