Gutsy Giants defeat Struggling Bengals

With the New York Giants trailing 20 to 14 in the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night, they had a fourth-and-goal from the Cincinnati 3-yard line. New York could have opted to kick the field goal, but head coach Ben McAdoo decided to leave his offense on the field without hesitation.

It paid off when Eli Manning threw the touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard with 14:12 remaining in the game. Shepard finished with 5 catches for 42 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Manning finished with 240 yards passing 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the Giants 21 to 20 win over the Bengals.

In the first quarter, Manning threw a touchdown pass to Jerell Adams from 10 yards out. The Bengals responded quickly, when Andy Dalton hit Tyler Eifert for 71 yards. That would set up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton to A.J. Green.

Dalton finished with 204 passing yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Green finished with 7 catches for 68 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Eifert finished with 3 catches for 96 yards receiving.

With the Giants trailing 10 to 7 in the second-quarter, Manning threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham Jr. finished with 10 catches for 97 yards and 1 touchdown.

At the beginning of the third-quarter, Jeremy Hill scored on a 9-yard touchdown run. Hill finished with 46 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Andy Dalton and Eli Manning threw interceptions on back to back plays. With 2:50 remaining in the period and Cincinnati having no timeouts remaining, the Giants had a third-and-6 play, and Rashad Jennings picked up 9 yards on the play to move the chains.

After the two minute warning on a second-and-10 play, Jennings rushed for 25 yards to seal the win. Jennings finished with 87 yards rushing. The New York Giants will host the Chicago Bears (2-7) next Sunday.
