Ottawa set the tone early and it helped them win game 6, 4 to 2 against the New York Rangers. Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone scoring in the first period for the Senators caused the Rangers to play catch up the rest of the way.

Mika Zibanejad scored in the second period for New York. Ottawa responded positively when Erik Karlsson scored for the Senators.

Chris Kreider cut the deficit to one goal :53 seconds into the third-period for the Rangers. Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored an empty-net goal with seven seconds remaining for the Senators.

Craig Anderson made some big saves tonight and he stopped 37 shots. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 22 shots for the Rangers.

Ottawa advances to their third conference finals in franchise history. It is their first since the 2007 playoffs. They will play either the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Washington Capitals in the conference final
