Redskins Carve Up Packers

I guess someone forgot to tell the Washington Redskins that Thanksgiving is on Thursday and not Sunday. They carved up the Green Bay Packers defense with 526 total yards of offense, in a 42 to 24 victory. Washington's offense made Green Bay's defense look dazed.

In the first quarter, Kirk Cousins threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Desean Jackson. In the second quarter, Aaron Rodgers threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson. With the Redskins trailing 10 to 7 late in the period, Rob Kelley scored on a 10-yard touchdown run.

In the third quarter, Cousins threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder. Crowder finished with 3 catches for 102 yards and 1 touchdown.

Trailing 22 to 10 in the fourth-quarter, Green Bay cut the deficit on a James Starks 31-yard touchdown screen play from Aaron Rodgers. The Redskins would respond right away with a 70-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon from Cousins. Garcon finished with 6 catches for 116 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.

Cousins finished with 375 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. On the next drive, Green Bay would respond with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jared Cook from Aaron Rodgers.  Cook finished with 6 catches for 105 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Rodgers finished with 351 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.

With 6:12 remaining on a fourth-and-1 from Washington's own 41 yard-line, Kirk Cousins ran a quarterback sneak and picked up the first down. It was gutsy because if they missed, Green Bay would have received the ball at good field position. In addition to that, Jay Gruden probably didn't trust his defense.

It paid off because Rob Kelley would score on 1 -yard rush. When Green Bay got the ball back, Josh Norman forced a fumble and Washington recovered it. Two plays after the fumble, Kelley busted a 66-yard run, which eventually set up his 4-yard score. Kelley finished with 137 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.

The Washington Redskins will travel to Dallas (9-1) for a Thanksgiving showdown on Thursday.
