I Never Thought I'd Say This.....

Is he an immeasurable narcissist or a genius in plain sight? He's probably a bit of both, but I'm starting to lean towards the latter.

Last night a basketball game was streamed on the interweb. Over 800,000 fans tuned in. That's nearly a million people! This was not a game featuring NBA stars; it was a game featuring LaMelo Ball, Lonzo's youngest brother, with his ostentatious father, Lavar, howling from the sidelines as his self-made AAU team, Big Ballers, played in Las Vegas.

Not only was the game streamed spasmodically online, but the gym, which sat 5,000, was filled over one hour prior to tip-off. This was for a meaningless AAU game, mind you. Some NBA stars even showed up to watch the Ball show live. Damian Lillard, Andrew Wiggins and Eric Gordon were all courtside, and LeBron made plans to attend, but after learning of the sell-out, he bailed.

Whether you cringe at the sight of Lavar Ball or not is certainly a topic for discussion. But one thing isn't debatable: that man has built an empire. He has NBA stars coming to watch his AAU team, and his oldest is running point for Magic Johnson and the Lakers. The more and more that I think about it, I am starting to believe that Lavar Ball might be a genius.
