Massive Mistake

Who wouldn't want to add a consensus top-three player in the world to their team? Even after winning an NBA-record 73 games last season, the Golden State Warriors reconfigured their roster to make room for Kevin Durant. At the time the move made all of the sense in the world. Like I said, who wouldn't want a player with KD's talent?  With that being said, I believe if the Warriors could have a mulligan they would surely take it.

If I told you that a team won a record number of games one year and then the next season that same team was struggling  to lock up the top seed in their conference, what would you think? I know what my thought process would be. That team must have screwed up the offseason. Point blank. Adding Kevin Durant seemed logical, but what wasn't as well thought-out was Warriors lack of depth that would come as a result of such an acquisition. Last season the team from the Bay had a motto: "Strength in Numbers." Yes, they had a dominant starting five, but their biggest advantage was their depth. Leandro Barbosa, Marreese Speights, Harrison Barnes, Brandon Rush, and Andrew Bogut were all key contributors to the Warriors team that reach back-to-back NBA Finals. They were all also deported in favor of KD. It is not easy to find players in the NBA who are ego-less and team-first. The Warriors had "it." Kevin Durant will be back prior to the playoffs, but that doesn't change the fact that this Warriors team is not nearly as lethal as last year's squad.
