Reaction to NFL Week 6

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans are reeling. After throttling New England a few weeks back, Jacksonville has had two straight abysmal showings on the road, one against the Chiefs and the other against the Cowboys. The Jaguars defense seems vulnerable and Blake Bortles is back to being his erratic self. Then there is the Titans, who after a statement victory over the defending Super Bowl champs, fell to the lowly Bills before getting annihilated by the Ravens on Sunday; a game in which Marcus Mariota was sacked an astounding eleven times.
Phillip Rivers is so underappreciated. That dude is one of the top-five quarterbacks in the NFL, full stop. He is thirty-six years old and still performing at an incredibly high level. I think Rivers often gets overlooked because the two quarterbacks he came into the league with, Eli and Big Ben, each have two rings, while he has none. To me, in a vacuum, he is the superior talent, but for many reasons outside of his control his teams have not had the same level of success as the Giants and the Steelers. I would take Phillip Rivers as my quarterback any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
The Vikings offense is beginning to find its groove. It took Kirk Cousins some time to get acclimated to his new element, but against the Cardinals on Sunday it appeared that Minnesota’s offense really started clicking. With the Bears loss to the Dolphins and the Packers inconsistent play this season, despite the Vikings slow start, they should not be written off.
Sam Darnold was really impressive. I haven’t been as high on the former Trojan quarterback as many pundits have, but he really caught my eye on Sunday against the Colts. The Jets rookie went toe-to-toe with Andrew Luck and actually outdueled the former number one overall pick. Darnold was 24 of 30 for 280 yards and two scores. He has been the beneficiary of a controlling ground game and a turnover forcing defense, but even with that extra jolt, Darnold has shown flashes that lead me to believe that he will have a special career in the NFL.
