My Thoughts on Week 14

Ahhhhh the Lions. Once again, we've managed to pull out a 4th quarter win against an all-powerful Buc's offense.

Coach Caldwell mentioned in a speech after the game that the Buc's came in with 15 offensive turnovers on the year. During Sunday's game, they managed to induce 5 turnovers on themselves.

By the way, that one debacle where Diggs smashed O.J. Howard and forced a fumble, was one of the most ridiculous referee calls I've ever seen. Clearly, it was not an illegal hit, clearly he wasn't defenseless, and clearly the ball was knocked loose and it shouldn't have taken 5 minutes plus a Lions challenge for the call to become right.

Anyway, If you ask me, this is another prime example of how the Lions will not make it into the post-season, especially with how the NFC playoff picture is looking as of now. The Lions still remain mediocre. They beat an under performing team with a lack luster quarterback and an atrocious defense. They had 3 turnovers, 2 of which were interceptions. Luckily, Winston and his offense mightily struggled and couldn't take advantage and put points on the board in the second and third quarters.

The Lions still couldn't manage to put up substantial numbers in the run game even though the Buccaneer defense ranks 31st in the league in rushing yards allowed. This Lions team has remained a-top of Stafford's back as he's carried the team to high scoring games and 4th quarter game winners.

A few good things to take away from Sunday's Game are Quandre Diggs and Eric Ebron. I think Quandre did a tremendous job stepping up and playing safety for the injured Tavon Wilson. He managed his first career interception as well as a nice pass breakup. The next player Mr. Eric "Drops" Ebron, also played fantastically (other than the fumble lost). Often times he was open on the intermediate routes and gained a career high of 10 receptions for 94 yards. It's exciting to see what happens when Ebron is actually used in this receiver-heavy Lions offense.

Week 15, the Lions host the Chicago Bears, which will be an instant classic. I'm hopeful for the Lions to win out the rest of the season. Although, this Bears offense is potent and can be a potential threat, especially in the run game. Look for Jordan Howard and Mitch Trubisky to make plays on the ground. Another person to look out for is TE Adam Shaheen, He had 4 receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. I expect him to be a threat in the red zone and on third down.

Come back sometime next week, where I'll have my thoughts on Week 15.

Adios, GO LIONS! ROAAAAAAAR!!!
