5 Fantasy Headaches to Avoid

Every now and then you will draft a playing in your fantasy league that you cycle in and out of your lineup every other week. It seems when you start him he catches 1 pass for 8 yards or runs for 40 yards, and when you sit him he catches 6 for 90 yards and a touchdown or has three scores. While these players may total a decent amount of points by season's end, they are just not worth the aggravation and may bring some trade value as well. Starting from the least frustrating down to the worst of the worst:

5. Andre Johnson: WR Indianapolis Colts- Andre Johnson was once considered the best wide receiver in the league and in fantasy. He is now getting up there in age in terms of NFL players but he still shows his athleticism from time to time. Johnson is most likely a flex or a WR2 in a deeper league, but is easily interchangeable with a larger number of bench players. Andre Johnson still draws attention as a fantasy pick but many can be fooled and have him overrated. But he will still toy with his fantasy owners and have a solid game every few weeks and go for 100 yards or a few catches and a touchdown. Johnson's name can bring enough value by itself to possibly trade for a more consistent flex player.

4. Alshon Jeffery: WR Chicago Bears- Jeffery has a complicated situation in Chicago this year. With Brandon Marshall gone he should see more targets, but now he will be double covered especially in the end zone. QB Jay Cutler is also struggling which does not help. Regardless of his environment, Jeffery has been a spotty WR1 the last two seasons. Managing little injuries and then simply not being targeted has caused some very bad weeks for Jeffery in the past and relying on him to put up decent numbers can leave fantasy owners uneasy about each week. I believe he also have good trade value to find a more consistent option but maybe not as high of an upside as Alshon Jeffery.

3. Lamar Miller: RB Miami Dolphins- Lamar Miller was projected to have great value this year after having a few very good weeks in 2014. In a PPR league Miller's value was in the top 10 for running backs, but thus far he just has not been given the touches. Once he is fully healthy again after enduring this minor ankle injury, he is bound to have multiple games with over 100 yards from scrimmage. The issue is the scoring for his off weeks. Miller is not one to get into the end zone frequently, so if he is unable to get the touches or in a rhythm to gain his yards he is at risk for a bad week.

2. Matthew Stafford: QB Detroit Lions- Stafford always has the potential to have a big week given his receiving core of Johnson and Tate, but he often finds a way to put up poor numbers. His turnover numbers aren't outrageous, but its seems for Stafford when its good its great and when its bad it is horrible. There are plenty of young quarterbacks that are playing well and would be better bets than Stafford this season.

1. Keenan Allen: WR San Diego Chargers- Keenan Allen is the biggest nightmare for any fantasy owner. He seemingly alternates with a great game every other week, and an awful game in between. After having him on my own team last year he was nothing but trouble, trying to play him the correct weeks. Matchups did not seem to matter either. This season so far; Week 1 Allen put up over 30 points in my PPR league, but then Week 2 he only managed 1.90 Points. Allen has a great upside but his inconsistency is simply not worth it.
