Who to Play in Week 5 Fantasy?
Who to Play in Week 5 Fantasy?
Quarterbacks
Alex Smith – Kansas City vs. Chicago
Alex Smith played terrible in Week 4 as did the whole Kansas City team. Smith finished with 386 Passing Yards with 0 Touchdowns. The whole team relied on Cairo Santos who scored all 21 points for Kansas City. This week should be a turnaround as Smith is facing a Chicago defense that has been pretty bas all year. Smith needs to have a good game if he wants to help this team win because you can’t rely on Jamaal Charles to do all the work. I expect a bounce back week for Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Prediction – 319 Passing Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 1 Interception
Blake Bortles – Jacksonville @ Tampa Bay
Blake Bortles has shown signs of improvement this year for Jaguars which is a great thing for this organization. In Week 4 he has another good game. He finished with 298 Passing Yards and 1 Touchdown. In Week 5 he is playing a OK at best Tampa Bay defense so he should have a good game. Bortles is definitely good enough to play in this league for a long time. I expect him to have a great game today against Tampa Bay.
Prediction – 275 Passing Yards, 2 Touchdowns
Running Backs
Carlos Hyde – San Francisco @ NY Giants (SNF)
Carlos Hyde had a huge Week 1 and has been a disappointment so far after that. Week 4 was just another bad game for him. He finished with 20 Rushing Yards and 2 Receiving Yards. Hyde’s lack of production comes from the 49ers being down early and having to pass to get back into games. But I think Hyde will turn it all around this week in East Rutherford. Hyde played well during primetime in Week 1 and think this week will be the same.
Prediction – 125 Rushing Yards, 1 Touchdown
Doug Martin – Tampa Bay vs. Jacksonville
Doug Martin had a great game in Week 4 vs. Carolina. He looked like a rookie again rushing for 106 yards and scoring a touchdown. I think Martin will continue playing well in Week 5 vs. Jacksonville. Jacksonville has played well against the run this year but I think Martin will still play well. Martin needs to play at a high level every week because his job is on the line with Charles Sims waiting for his chance to be the number 1 back. I think Martin will have another good game.
Prediction – 102 Rushing Yards, 1 Touchdown
Wide Receivers
Pierre Garcon – Washington @ Atlanta
Pierre Garcon has been playing well all year with Kirk Cousins running the offense. Garcon has established himself has Cousins’ favorite target through 4 weeks. Garcon ended Week 4 with 7 Receptions for 55 Receiving Yards and 1 Touchdown. Garcon is going up against Atlanta who haven’t been the best against the pass this year by giving up 100 Receiving Yards to 1 receiver every game. I expect Garcon to continue that streak.
Prediction – 8 Receptions, 125 Receiving yards, 1 Touchdown
Kamar Aiken – Baltimore vs. Cleveland
Kamar Aiken has been a work in progress for the Ravens this year and has shown signs of excellence at some points. Aiken finished Week 4 with 5 Receptions for 77 Receiving Yards and 1 Touchdown. Aiken should see an increased workload this week because Steve Smith Sr. and Breshad Perriman at both out with injury. Flacco went to Aiken last week and I expect him to do it again in Week 5.
Prediction – 6 Receptions, 85 Receiving Yards, 1 Touchdown
Tight Ends
Antonio Gates – San Diego vs. Pittsburgh
Antonio Gates is making his first appearance of the season in Week 5 and it should be a good one. Gates has always been Rivers’ favorite target and with him back it should help other receivers out too. Gates should see a lot of targets this week because Steve Johnson is out and Ladarius Green is potentially not going to play as well. I expect Gates to make an immediate impact.
Prediction – 8 Receptions, 125 Receiving Yards, 1 Touchdown
Delanie Walker – Tennessee vs. Buffalo
Delanie Walker has played all year for the Titans and things should keep rolling in Week 5. Walker has been Mariota’s go to guy because he is someone that Mariota’s trusts. Walker plays more like a wide receiver with a big body which makes him hard to cover especially for linebackers over the middle. I expect Walker to have a good game out of the bye week.
Prediction – 7 Receptions, 114 Receiving Yards
Kickers
Connor Barth – Tampa Bay vs. Jacksonville
Connor Barth has been bounced around a few times over the last few years. He started in Tampa Bay then was released and signed by Denver. He was then cut by Denver and re-signed with Tampa Bay and then released by them again. No he finds himself kicking for Tampa bay again after they released Kyle Brindza. I think Barth will be looking to show Tampa Bay that they shouldn’t have released him in the first place.
Prediction – 2/2 Extra Points, 3/3 Field Goals, Long – 48 Yards
Defense
Packers – Green Bay vs. St. Louis
Green Bay has showed that they have improved on the defensive side of the ball. They have totaled 13 sacks in the last 2 games. (7 vs. Kansas City/6 vs. San Francisco) I think things will keep rolling for them against St. Louis. If Green Bay can get to Nick Foles and pressure him then Green Bay should have another good defensive week.
Prediction – 5 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 1 Defensive Touchdown
