Post MLS Cup Disscussion

Last night the Seattle Sounders won their first ever MLS Cup in what was an anxiety induced game that led to an anxiety induced penalty shoot out. Roman Torres scored the final PK that gave Seattle their best win in club history. The Seattle Sounders did a great job all game in containing the Toronto FC stars. I will admit that players like Altidore, Giovinco, and Bradley had their chances but just didn`t finish. But on the other hand you have to admit that Chad Marshall, Roman Torres, and the rest of the Seattle defense made a positive impact. Defensively for Toronto, I think that Eriq Zavaleta had the best game. He was great in negating the speed of Jordan Morris and made Nicolas Lodiero almost non-existent.

In the midfield I can honestly say I was most impressed with Cristian Roldan. Roldan was disruptive all game for the Sounders. Follow me here: After a good stretch of Jozy Altidore good games it is normal to see him have a typical "complaining game". His complaining games usually consist of him getting into good position and not finishing which then leads to him complaining. The main factor that was disrupting Jozy all game long was Roldan. He was always right by him and smartly fouling him. For Toronto`s midfield I was very impressed with Michael Bradley. His passing was nearly perfect and his defense kept TFC in the game.

There wasn`t too much impressive play on the forwards side of things. I said earlier that Jozy had one of his typical "complaining games" but he did have a good game based on positioning. He had himself in the right spot to succeed.

I heard many call this game boring. I found it the complete opposite. I enjoy a good defensive matchup that ends up in each team needing to get that one final push. Obviously that didn`t happen here because we went into PK`s but appreciate a good defense people! I have also seen many people complaining that the Sounders even won the Cup. The Sounders played very good late in the regular season and made a playoff run. The Timbers did the exact same thing last season and I don`t remember this outcry. The Sounders made necessary changes to the their team midseason and it paid off. I want to say congratulations to Toronto FC on a phenomenal season and their first MLS Cup appearance. And finally I want to say congratulations to the Seattle Sounders on appearing and winning their first ever MLS Cup! Players such as Zack Scott, Ozzie Alonso, Clint Dempsey, and Chad Marshall are all deserving of this MLS Cup honor to their long and storied careers.
