Brady robs the Jags

It is safe to say that the Patriots are one of those teams. One of the teams that are hated by every fan in the NFL apart from their own. So it is also safe to say that last night, the Jacksonville Jaguars had a lot of people routing for them to come out on top against New England, which they were unable to do the last time they were in the Playoffs, ten years prior.

The Patriots started fairly strong. After receiving the ball from kickoff, Brady quickly began to find his rhythm, taking his team on a six minute drive down the field resulting in a field goal. The Jaguars could not do the same on their opening drive however as a big 3rd down play by Malcolm Butler forced Jacksonville into a punt on their first drive of the game. After trading punts, the Jags got the ball back and drove down the field, strongly, led by Bortles, into the second quarter where their drive was finished of in the end zone by veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis. Another pointless New England drive gave Bortles another opportunity to drive downfield and was strongly finished by Jaguars rookie running back Fournette who looks like he could be a long time threat at running back in the NFL, putting the Jaguars up 14 points to 3. Things were only looking worse for the Patriots as star tight end Rob Gronkowski took a big hit from Barry Church with time running out in the first half, and looked to be concussed. To end the half, White rushed for a touchdown for the Patriots, despite loosing Gronk, to make it 14-10 Jacksonville, heading into halftime.

Tom Brady. The greatest of all time? I hate to admit it but yes. He is. An inspired 4th quarter performance from both him and Danny Amendola with help from the relentless Defense led by new acquisition James Harrison gave Brady the ball down 20-17 with less than 6 minutes of the game remaining and a chance to make history as a win would result in the Patriots record breaking 10th Superbowl birth. A huge touchdown pass caught by Amendola gave the Patriots the lead with just over two minutes remaining and the Jaguars were unable to make up the 4 point difference meaning the patriots won by 4. Even watching as a neutral, I was angered. Angered at the talent of Brady and the fact that once again, New England were going to the Superbowl instead of the underdogs, who just last year went 3-13 on the season. A great game of football ended in tears from the Jaguars and we even seen emotions running high for rookie Fournette who was devastated to have come so close and not clinch the opportunity. As Tom Brady goes to face Nick Foles and his Philadelphia Eagles for a chance at a 6th Superbowl ring, we can only be excited to see this Jacksonville Jaguars team dominating again next season.
