Released: Top 5 Fantasy Hockey Sleepers/Waiver Wire Highlights
The 2016-2017 NHL season is officially underway. As a fantasy hockey team owner, you may be realizing by now where you stand within your league. However, with only two weeks down there is still time for you to recover and make use of your pool's free agents. Below is a list of the top 10 fantasy hockey sleeper pick ups who are producing points so far this season. (NOTE: List is based off of a H2H format, weekly matchups between fantasy teams).
1. Troy Brouwer (CGY) 8 GP - 16:36 ATOI - 3 G - 3 A- (+/-) 1 - 13 SOG
Brouwer continues to be a productive power forward, already totalling 6 points in 8 games played. His average time on ice has been consistent over past seasons. Check your league's free agent list for his name, as Brouwer can effectively enhance your team on the front end.
2. Victor Rask (CAR) 6 GP - 18:10 ATOI - 4 G - 3 A - (+/-) 0 - 15 SOG
Victor Rask often finds himself on fantasy free agent markets, but owners will be scooping him up when they see how consistent the young forward has been for the Hurricanes this year. Increased production has also led to a reasonable amount of ice time for Rask.
3. Zach Werenski (CLB) 5 GP - 21:26 ATOI - 2 G - 3 A - (+/-) 0 - 18 SOG
Zach Werenski picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Stars, giving him five points through the first 5 games of his NHL career. This impressive start is bound to catch the eye of many fantasy owners, so go and grab him before he's gone, because Werenski could be in for a productive rookie season.
4. Matt Read (PHI) 7 GP - 14:45 ATOI - 5 G - 0 A - (+/-) -1 - 19 SOG
Matt Read has been a goal scoring force for the Flyers this season, and has been turning heads through the first 7 games of the regular season. He is currently the goal scoring leader for the Flyers, and is expected to produce a reasonable amount of points through his 2016-2017 campaign.
5. Darren Helm (DET) 7 GP - 15:27 ATOI - 4 G - 2 A - (+/-) 9 - 13 SOG
Helm's fantasy stock continues to rise as he continues to be a reliable sleeper for fantasy owners. While his point production has been undoubtedly impressive, Darren Helm's +/- is a stat to keep your eye on. If your league counts this stat as a point category, then Helm is the player for you.
