EARLY OBSTRUCTED THOUGHTS ON SUPER BOWL LI

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Well, the Patriots beat the Falcons in the first overtime game in Super Bowl history.  And of course, I am sad for the Falcons.  But let's discuss it as I think it deserves a rapid reaction.

ATLANTA BLEW IT:  Simple as that.  They played NOT to lose.  I know the Falcons tried passing on 3rd and 1, but to them that is a conservative play.  Had they run Freeman, they get that yard and the Falcons really put the Patriots in a bind.  But, nope.  It is why the Patriots are holding up #5 and Atlanta is going home with nothing.

NEW ENGLAND DID THE SMART THING AND KEPT THE FALCONS OFF THE FIELD:  If you want to know why the Patriots won this game, it was because they kept Atlanta's defense out there.  The Falcons defense was gassed.  They didn't play bad, but they were worn out in the 4th quarter.  The Pats did the same thing as Clemson did and wore out the Falcons.

Belicheck pressed all the right buttons in the 2nd half.

BILL BELICHECK GOES DOWN AS THE GREATEST COACH EVER:  It wasn't Brady being the best of all-time because he missed a good number of passes.  It was Belicheck's calling that kept Matt Ryan off the field.  Me personally?  Brady still is behind Montana and his play showed it tonight.  How Tom Brady won MVP is a joke.  He didn't play AWFUL but James White is the MVP, not Brady

White is your REAL MVP of the Super Bowl

JAMES WHITE DECIDED THE SUPER BOWL:  See previous statement.  LeGarette Blount did nothing.  It was James White who really decided the game.  Again, how Brady got the MVP is by recognition.

IF ATLANTA LEARNS FROM THIS, THEY WILL BE SUPER BOWL 52 CHAMPIONS:  They made too many mistakes in the 2nd half to win.  Just too many mistakes.  Can't blame Ryan here.  The decisions made doomed Atlanta.

ATLANTA'S 4TH QUARTER WOES FINALLY DOOMED THEM:  I mentioned it when I ranked the playoff teams from 1-12 that Atlanta's weakness was the 4th quarter.  And that falls on the coach.  Don't get me wrong, I love Dan Quinn, but he NEEDS to find a way to close the door on teams.  They lost to the Chargers this way.  The CHARGERS!  Anyway, I hope Atlanta learns from this and continues building what they want to build and that is a team that will WIN the Super Bowl, regardless of the opponent.

Anyway, it was a good Super Bowl.  Just wished for a different outcome.  Not butthurt, as I am one while I LOVE sports, especially football, I do not get devastated for my teams losing.   Plenty of other things going on in the world as is.
