Champions League Preview Day 1

?FINALLY. The Champions league is back!! Knockout rounds are here and we all couldn't be more excited. This is when most of us start to talk about the Bayerns, Madrids, and Barcelonas of the world to win it but will it be one of those clubs who claim one of footballs most prestigious awards? We aren't %100 sure yet so let's take it one game at a time and try to figure out who wins.

Game 1

Benfica vs Borussia Dortmund

-Team outlook

•Benfica - They almost went undefeated in January but somewhat collapsed near the end of the month with losses in the league cup semi final and a league loss to Vitoria de Setubal. They've started the February nicely coming off two 3-0 wins against Nacional and Arouca keeping them on top of the league. Jonas and Mitroglou are firing on all cylinders and if they somehow pull this off don't be surprised if it's one of these guys who simply took over

•Borussia Dortmund - Like always Borussia are playing like always. Winning almost all their games, losing some here and there which always seem to keep them out of the title race. Even then, they always seem to be a dark horse and a team you really don't want to face in the Champions league. They're consistently a threat and scare a bunch of big name clubs. Although they haven't been awful these past couple of games, they haven't been impressive which is somewhat scary going into the champions league.

Prediction - Borussia Dortmund Move On

Although it seems like a no brainer to pick Dortmund, this one is harder than what meets the eye. Benfica are a great club in European football and anyone who has seen them play know they step up when in these games. Borussia Dortmund simply don't look like the team of the past that make people think twice.

Yet even then, I still believe they'll have enough firepower to outgun Benfica, but it won't be easy.

Game 2

PSG vs Barcelona

-Team outlook

•PSG - Unai Emery and PSG fans should be rather disappointed in what this season has become for them. At this point in the last couple of season they pretty much have won the league and are simply looking forward to Champions league play. This time, not so much, they sit second behind Monaco and have had their good moments and their bad but at least there is still the possibility for glory unlike any PSG has ever seen in every competition they are in.

•Barcelona - Like PSG, they're not having the best season they have ever had or one they're accustomed to but they're still in the fight. Although they're not where they want to be, they just might be clicking at the right time. Sure, their stellar performances seem to come against smaller teams and struggle more against bigger teams, but when MSN start scoring, there is no stopping them.

Prediction - PSG moves on

Now this is by far the craziest thing I've done in a while. Who would pick against Barcelona? MSN? Messi??? I would. One simple reason, Emery. His days in Sevilla were some great ones but he never really had the team to take him over the hump. He knows the game well, he thrives in these situations, and most importantly, he knows Barcelona. This time around there's no excuses. This is were PSG fans forget the league, this is why PSG brought Emery, to win the Champions league. I believe they will beat Barcelona, and who knows what they could do next.
