The 49ers Are Willing to Trade Their No. 2 Overall Pick

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch has confirmed that the 49ers have received interest regarding their No. 2 overall pick from a couple of teams. They are willing to make a deal. While it is unclear which teams have spoken to the 49ers about a potential trade, I know for a fact that the Panthers have expressed interest in moving up from their 8th pick. The trade would likely involve the Panthers giving up their extra second round pick and one of their players for that No. 2 pick. That is my best guess.
This is a quote from Lynch's press conference:
"There's the traditional trade chart. We've got one of our own. We know how we value that. As I've said, we're open for business. We'll listen to anything. But I've always said you don't like being a 2-14 team, but you like having the second pick. Because I think it puts you in the drivers seat. A lot of options at your disposal. And we'll explore every single one of them."
A couple of draft analysts have recently predicted that the 49ers could take LSU running back Leonard Fournette. That is one player that coaching staff from the Carolina Panthers has been watching closely. The 49ers did recently sign Tim Hightower and still have Carlos Hyde on the active roster. In some ways it does not make sense that the 49ers would spend their second pick on a running back. The team may have better luck auctioning that pick off to the highest bidder. You would be surprised at how much that pick is worth. The 49ers could easily get a talented player and a few draft picks.
