2016 NHL Playoffs Round 1: Flyers were Embarrassed at Home in Game Three!
A tribute to our founder and chairman, Ed Snider. #ThankYouMrSniderhttps://t.co/6u7p2eCaU1
— Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) April 18, 2016
The Flyers came out and scored 57 seconds into the game (Michael Raffi scored the goal) but that was short lived as the Capitals tied the game at one, about four minutes later on a power play goal scored by Marcus Johansson.
After the 1st Period, Shots: Flyers 11 Caps 7
In the second, the Flyers didn't to much of anything. Alex Ovechkin, scored at 8:50 to put the Caps up 3-1. Both teams were 0 for 3 on the power play. The Flyers however, did out-shot the Caps 12-7.
After the 2nd Period, Shots: Flyers 23 Caps 14
The third period, is when everything fell apart on and off the ice. The Capitals scored one of their four power play goals in the period at 1:58 into the period by Evgeny Kuznetsov. The second goal came at 7:37 scored by John Carson his third of the series. Alex Ovechkin, scored his second goal of the game and third of the series at 14:58. The last PP goal, came at 18:20 scored by Jay Beagle. The Caps out-shout the Flyers 13-9 in the period.
End of the Game, Shots, Flyers 32 Caps 27
My take is that the Flyers aren't a good enough team to beat a team like the Capitals. The Caps are on a different level simple as that. The Flyers are still a young team and the Caps are one of the best teams in the NHL that's why they had the most points in the league. The game got out of hand in the third and the Flyers basically gave up. This was supposed to be a night to honor Ed Snider but instead it was an embarrassing night.
That pretty much says it all^^^^^^^^^^. Look at the disgust on the fans.
I will write about the off ice stuff in a different article because I have stuff to say about the fans.
