BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - The stage is finally set. It will be a showdown between the sixth-seeded Marshall and top-seeded Middle Tennessee. Tipoff at Legacy Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. and will air on CBS Sports Network.
The Blue Raiders are back in the C-USA Championship Game after crushing Texas-El Paso 82 to 56 this afternoon at Legacy Arena.
The Thundering Herd are making their second appearance in the C-USA title game after knocking down a C-USA Tournament record 19 three-pointers en route to a 93 to 77 upset win over second-seeded Louisiana Tech this afternoon at Legacy Arena.
Here are three reasons why the Blue Raiders will repeat as C-USA Champions and earn an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
MT has won nine straight as well as 19 out of their last 20 games ever since they losr back-to-back games against Virginia Commonwealth and Georgia State.
Under Head Coach Kermit Davis, the Blue Raiders are 6-1 all-time against the Thundering Herd. One of those wins happened last year in the 2015 C-USA Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals by a final score of 99 to 90.
MT is 2-1 all-time in C-USA Championship Games. I think that our defense is going to be too much for Marshall to handle just like the regular season. We just have too much talent for anybody to handle.
