Indians Rock Red Sox.
Hi everybody. Game 1 of the American League Division Series between the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox is now behind us. And the Indians beat the Red Sox 5-4 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Rick PORCELLO was the best pitcher the Red Sox had and they sent him to the mound for game. The Indians rocked him as he only lasted 4.1 innings, 6 hits 5 earned runs and 6 strikeouts. Trevor Bauer only went 4.2 innings. he allowed 6 hits. 3 earned runs. Andrew Miller was fantastic in 2 innings of relief striking out 4. Cody Allen got the Save in a 5 out save. In the top of the 9th Dustin PEDROIA stuck out on a questionable call to the naked eye but if you look at the replay he did swing so the Indians win game one 5-4. After the Strikeout PEDROIA went off on the home plate umpire Brain Knight. Red Sox Manager John Farrell had to get in between PEDRIOA and 1st Base Umpire Phil CUZZI. PEDROIA in disgust slammed his batting helmet on the Ground.
After the game, PEDRIOA did apologize for his actions as well as did John Farrell. Farrell also did say " it's sad that a big game like this was decided on a questionable call it's a shame that it has to come down to this but that's the way it is and we will move on."
Indians Manager Terry FRANCONA said after the Indians win on Thursday night, " Home field advantage isn't always regarded as a huge deal but it's what we needed tonight and we got it in a big way." I don't know if it was a big deal tonight but if they win game 2 it might be over before you know it.
Here's my take, The Indians winning game 1 was huge. If they take game 2 today there's a great chance it will be over. If the Red Sox win game 2 today then it's off to Fenway park with the series tied at one game apiece. So if I was Terry FRANCONA I would be telling my guys treat this game like it's any other. Don't get ahead of yourselves because it will hurt the team and it will hurt us in the series. If I was Red Sox Manager John Farrell I would be telling my guys this. We are now I a must win situation because we lost game 1 and that really put us behind the 8 ball so if you want to get out of this with a spilt in the 1st 2 games you better show up ready to play or this series and our season is going to be over before it even starts. The Indians-Red Sox play game 2 at 4:30 on TBS so to both teams good luck in game 2 and we will see what happens.
