Tennessee Looks to Down Kentucky Again Tonight
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Rick Barnes believes his Tennessee team should be confident at Kentucky, but also, aware this game represents a different challenge than the first meeting.
“It is a different game, (and) we talked to the team about it yesterday that when we were here last time we were coming off a good win against Mississippi State and we were at home,” Barnes said Monday. “Now, we are coming off a tough loss and going on the road, so mindset is very important, how are we going to be able to get on to the next one.”
The “next one” is a big one for Tennessee (14-11, 6-6 SEC), a young team that’s looking to find its way into the NCAA tournament.
A win over Kentucky (20-5, 10-2) would do wonders for the Vols’ tourney resume, as well as snap the Tennessee program’s 9-game losing streak in Rupp Arena.
Barnes is 3-3 all-time against Kentucky and 4-3 against Wildcats coach John Calipari.
