Kvyat says staying at Red Bull is main priority

Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat insists remaining with the Red Bull team is his top priority, this just as reports of his negotiations with Force India have leaked to the surface.

His future at the Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso team remains up in the air, especially after he lost his seat at the top team to teenager Max Verstappen in Spain this season. Thursday, Motorsport reported the Russian has emerged as a prime target for the Force India team, seemingly to fill the seat vacated by Nico Hulkenberg, who will drive for Renault next season.

Esteban Ocon and Jolyon Palmer are also on Force India's list, according to the report. In order to make the switch, Kvyat would need to be released by the Red Bull team.

While Kvyat admits he's had talks with other teams down the paddock, he says his preference is to remain right where he is at Toro Rosso.

"To be honest there is talk here and there. We are all humans, it's not too difficult to just sit down and talk with someone," he said. "We just talk and discuss things. It's not a crime. We're all humans here. Like I said, our priority is Red Bull. They've been managing my whole career.

"On one hand it's been very easy because they've always picked me up. Now we are at a point where we are a bit in the air, but still Red Bull is the number one we're going to talk to.

"And once we talk, we'll decide what the future is and move on so I can't wait for the talk."

Furthermore, he revealed that he does in fact have other options at the ready, should Red Bull opt to not renew his contract.

"For sure there are many interesting options around. Let's just wait and see, it's too early to talk about this kind of thing. We'll have something coming up quite soon.
