PAC-12 Athletics To Stream Live on Twitter

Yep, you read that right. The PAC-12 announced Thursday that they have struck a deal with the popular social media website in an attempt to attract more fans.

Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans said:

"The Pac-12 Networks' collaboration with Twitter reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing exposure for Pac-12 universities and their live, school-produced events. By expanding our digital footprint, Pac-12 Plus also allows us to connect more fans with more, live Pac-12 sports content through a platform they use every day."

PAC-12 Plus will reportedly show over 150 games over the next academic year. All 12 schools will produce these sporting events, which include soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, baseball, ice hockey, swimming and diving, softball, track and field, wrestling, lacrosse, tennis and water polo. Football and basketball are probably left off because of bigger TV deals.

PAC-12 Networks are not included in DirectTV packages so this move could definitely booster their viewership to the large amount of fans who have a twitter account. Fans will now be able to watch their teams and also join in on the conversation, all on the same app. Twitter also has a deal in place with the NFL to live stream 10 of their Thursday night football games in the 2016 season.

We spend all day on Twitter as it is. So why not tweet AND watch a ball game?
