Mark Hunt Needs To Be The Matador To Brock Lesnar's Bull

Even though most mixed martial arts experts and fans expect Mark Hunt to dominate Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, that actually shouldn't be the case. This is because ever since Mark Hunt joined the UFC in 2010, he has heavily relied upon one punching sequence where he faints with the left jab to get his opponent to cover up or duck down. Which leaves the opponent susceptible to the short right uppercut or overhand right, for instance, if his opponent decides to duck down he will throw a short right uppercut to make them stay upright as the fight progresses. On the other hand, if his opponent decides to cover up he will throw the overhand right to the left side of the head in an effort to knockout or severely hurt his opponent. Once he is done throwing this sequence he usually stands right in front of his opponents for fifteen to thirty seconds without throwing a punch to regain some energy which allows his opponents to launch a counter attack.

If Mark Hunt decides to use this type of fighting style against Brock Lesnar, he will allow Lesnar to stay in the fight and increase the probability of him winning. This is because as soon as Lesnar sees Hunt throw the left jab he will cover up and take three to four steps back to avoid getting hit by the short right uppercut or overhand right. Once he senses that Hunt is done, he will try to capitalize on Mark Hunt's fifteen to thirty-second break by fainting a left jab which will allow him to get closer to Hunt to attempt a body lock or on occasion a power double leg takedown. If he is able to get a hold of Hunt he will try to push him towards the fence where he will throw some knees to the body and legs while at the same time making Hunt carry his weight thus making him lose energy at a rapid rate which would give Lesnar easier takedowns opportunities as the fight progresses.

Therefore, it would be ideal if Mark Hunt moved out of range after he punches to avoid any wrestling exchanges with Lesnar thus eliminating most of the avenues that give him a chance to win. But that most likely will not happen because Hunt wants to preserve some energy in case the fight goes three rounds, as a result, there will be plenty of opportunities for Lesnar to engage in wrestling exchanges where he can use his body frame and weight to wear down Hunt thus he should be able to stay in the fight and edge out the victory.
