Indians Sweep Away Red Sox

A day after the game was postponed, which team would show rust? The Cleveland Indians defeated the Boston Red Sox 4 to 3. They sweep the series and advance to the ALCS for the first time since 2007. Cleveland will face the Toronto Blue Jays starting on Friday.

In the 4th inning, Tyler Naquin hit a 2 RBI Single for the Indians. In the 5th inning, Andrew Benintendi hit an RBI double to cut the deficit 2 to 1.

In the 6th inning, Coco Crisp hit an enormous 2-run homer for the Indians. David Ortiz hit a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning for the Red Sox.  Hanley Rameriz hit an RBI single in the 8th inning for the Red Sox.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, Cody Allen walked 2 straight batters with 2 outs. Dustin Pedroia would come up to the plate and he would fly out to right field. The Indians would then start to celebrate.

Allen picked up his 2nd save of the series by pitching 1.1 innings and giving up 2 hits. He also struck out 1 batter.

Josh Tomlin was the winning pitcher for the Indians. He pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 hits and 2 runs. He walked 1 batter and struck out 4.

Clay Buchholz was the losing pitcher for the Red Sox. He pitched 4 innings and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs. He walked 1 batter and struck out 4. This was also David Ortiz's final game, and he saluted the crowd.
