Shepard Catches Game Winning Touchdown for Giants in Consecutive Weeks

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Shepard caught the game winning touchdown pass last week for the Giants. What would he do for an encore? With the game tied at 16 in the third-quarter, on a third-and-4 play from the Chicago 15, Eli Manning threw the game winning 15-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard in a 22 to 16 victory over the Chicago Bears, despite the missed extra point.

Shepard had 5 catches for 50 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. He is a very old schooled player by running good routes and just playing the game week in and week out. Shepard plays a lot like Amani Toomer.

In the first quarter, Jay Cutler threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Zach Miller. Miller finished with 3 catches for 61 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Cutler finished with 252 passing yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. The Giants responded on the next drive with a 2-yard touchdown run by Rashad Jennings.

The running game finally opened up today for the Giants. Jennings finished with 85 yards rushing and 1 touchdown.  Paul Perkins had 16 yards rushing. It was tied at 6 after both of those series because of missed extra points on both sides.

With the Bears leading 9 to 6 in the second-quarter, Jeremy Langford scored on a 1-yard rush. Langford only rushed for 8 yards but had 3 catches for 30 receiving yards. Jordan Howard had 77 rushing yards and 1 catch for 22 receiving yards.

The Giants would finally wake up after that.

Trailing 16 to 9 in the third-quarter, the Giants tied the game on a 9-yard touchdown pass to Will Tye from Eli Manning. Manning finished with 227 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

In the fourth quarter, Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd was carted off the field after an apparent injury and taken to a local hospital.

With 1:19 remaining on a second-and-29 play from the NYG 49 for Chicago, Jay Cutler threw an interception to Landon Collins to seal the game.

The Giants defense was impressive once again with 4 sacks and 1 forced fumble in the game. They will travel to face the Cleveland Browns (0-11) next Sunday.
