Ugly Steelers Advance Past Chiefs
Chris Boswell made 6 field goals for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 22,38,36,45 and 43 (twice) in a 18 to 16 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. I bet it isn't the only way the Steelers wanted to score tonight but they will obviously live with the result. Those 6 field goals were a postseason record.
Le'Veon Bell rushed for 170 yards in the game for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger had 224 passing yards and 1 interception. The Chiefs scored a touchdown in the first-quarter on a 5-yard touchdown pass to Albert Wilson from Alex Smith. Smith finished with 172 passing yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
With the Chiefs down 18 to 10 in the fourth, Spencer Ware scored on a 1-yard run. Ware finished with 35 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Kansas City went for two and Alex Smith found Demetrius Harris wide open in the end zone. However, Eric Fisher would be guilty of a holding penalty. They attempted it again and the pass was incomplete and intended for Jeremy Maclin.
After the 2 minute warning on a third-and-3 from Pittsburgh's own 12, Roethlisberger completed a pass to Antonio Brown for 7 yards. Brown finished with 6 catches for 108 yards receiving. Pittsburgh's defense did a great job of containing Travis Kelce (5 catches for 77 yards receiving) and Tyreek Hill (18 rushing yards and 4 catches for 27 yards receiving.)
The Chiefs shot themselves in the foot with costly penalties. The Steelers will travel to New England (14-2) for the AFC Championship next Sunday.
