Game To Watch: Week 3 Kansas City Chiefs @ Green Bay Packers

Week 2 was shocking to say the least. The idea of an "upset" does not usually come up in the NFL, but it is safe to say we witnessed a couple of unlikely wins last weekend. The Eagles VS. Cowboys game was a down right disappointment from an offensive standpoint, and it was unfortunate to see a couple of big players; such as Tony Romo and Kiko Alonso; join the injury club.
My big game to watch for Week 3 is the Kansas City Chiefs @ the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately we will have to wait until Monday night to watch, but it should be an exciting finale to our football week. We should look to the Chiefs' defense to cause some trouble for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offensive. But also keep an eye on the offensive side of the ball for Kansas City. It is debatable that Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league and we will see how he manages an injury plagued offense this week.
The Kansas City Chiefs' defense had a great showing against the Bronco's last Thursday night. The defensive line negated the Denver run game almost completely, and were able to get to Peyton Manning all night; led by Justin Houston with 2 sacks. Aaron Rodgers will be under a good amount of pressure, and likely receive little help from the run game against Kansas City. The most exciting player on the defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs throughout the first two weeks was undoubtedly the rookie cornerback Marcus Peters, who racked up 10 tackles, 2 interceptions, and broke up multiple passes. He has shown he can cover most #1 receivers in the league after taking part in corralling Demaryius Thomas. Look for Peters to cover Randall Cobb for a good part of Monday Night's game.
Offensively the Chiefs are going to have to show some consistency. Jamaal Charles is one of the best skill players in the league, but any great running back can be questioned if they cannot protect the ball. He had two fumbles last week against the Bronco's including one that ultimately cost the Chiefs the game. Alex Smith will also have to be on his A-game if he wants to keep up with Rodgers. I look for Smith to lean on his tight end Travis Kelce like he did in Week 1 and hopefully break this curse and get wide receiver Jeremy Maclin into the endzone. Charles and Smith will both have to protect the ball if the Chiefs want to have a chance to improve to 2-1 on Monday.
Elite quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a chance to answer all of his critics this week. He will heaved to lead the Packers with a diminished supporting cast. Starting the season with Nelson out for the year, the Packers could ill afford to lose more to injury. After Week 2, it looks like Green Bay could not catch a break. Running back Eddie Lacy is questionable at best and even if he does play will not be very effective. The wide receiving core is also banged up; Randall Cobb has been nursing a shoulder injury since the preseason and #2 wide out Davante Adams suffered an ankle injury against the Seahawks last week. Aaron Rodgers will have an opportunity to show his true value to this Packer team, which was rarely questioned to begin with. This game as well as the entire season will help solidify his place among the best quarterbacks in the league should he continue his winning ways.
I expect an exciting game with no more than 3 turnovers between the two teams. I wouldn't say it will be a high scoring affair but I could see a final score nearing 31-28 in favor of Green Bay with a winning field goal in the wake of a late drive by Aaron Rodgers.
