Sixers Hoops: Sixers trade for the Number One Pick

Welcome to Sixers Hoops formerly known as "Trust The Process" I changed the name because the process is basically over and it's the Progress now.

With less than 48 hours until the 2017 NBA draft and the Philadelphia 76ers make a move to get the number one overall pick. The rumors/talk started last Friday with a tweet from Marc Stein via ESPN that said the Sixers and the Boston Celtics were in deep serious talks about a trade that would send the number one overall pick to the Sixers and the third to the Celtics.

Then later that night (Friday) it came out that the consensus number one pick former Washington Huskies Point Guard, Markelle Fultz would work out and have a meeting with Sixers management on Saturday.

It was confirmed on Saturday morning, that Markelle Fultz would indeed be coming to work out for the Sixers in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

After Markelle Flutz worked out, the trade with the Celtics was announced but not official. Flutz also spoke to the media after the workout/meeting.

The trade became official on Monday afternoon. The details of the trade were the Sixers would receive the number one pick in this year's draft and the Celtics would get the third pick in this year's draft and either the 2018 Lakers' first round pick or the 2019 Kings' first pick. If the Lakers pick is either 1, 6-30 the Sixers keep the pick and the Celtics get the 2019 Kings' first round pick but if the pick fell between 2-5 the Celtics get it and the Sixers would keep the Kings' pick. There are protections on both picks. Click here to read the full details on the protections.

Fianlly, I love this trade as we get the point guard we needed well he's more of a combo guard but still we get the best player that fits for us. Flutz can shoot, score and pass the ball. Welcome to Philly Markelle Flutz!!! #ProcessOver #ThankYouHinkie #ThankYouBC #SixersNation
