Purdue Beats Indiana on a Questionable Call

Hello Everybody. Thursday Night in Bloomington Indiana was a night that a New Chapter in this Historic Basketball Rivalry between the Purdue Boilermakers and the Indiana Hoosiers. The Boilermakers won the game 69-64. But this game would be remembered for a questionable call that would have both Gene KEADY and Bobby Knight Throwing Chairs across the Free Throw Line and have both of them Dropping So Many F bombs and SH Bombs that the Reporters at their Press conferences would have to almost forget about writing the story for the Local Papers or TV and Radio. I am going to show you the Highlights and there were plenty as usual in this rivalry game. And afterwards you will get the stats for the game and then you will get My Commentary.

Well as you just saw we had a double foul called against Indiana's Thomas Bryant and Purdue's Caleb SWANIGAN they both fouled out after the double foul everybody was fuming irate and Bryant and SAWNIGAN Fouled out and Indiana Coach Tom CREAN said afterwards " That Call was absolutely absurd and we lost the game thanks to the Officials. I hold them responsible for what happened and it's sad to see a game be decided like that, It's disgusting." Purdue Coach Matt Painter said afterwards " I agree with CREAN on that call I have never seen anything like that in my life and it's sad that this game was decided like that. It's a rivalry game and it shouldn't be decided by the officials at all."

Now Here's what Happened: Official Lamont Simpson called a charge on Caleb SWANIGAN and Official Paul SZELC called a defensive foul on Thomas Bryant and the clarification that we got form the officials is the following

" It's a rare occurrence that you have this happen where you have one official with the block, and one official with the charge," Simpson acknowledged in a pool report, citing the rule that says when it happens a double foul is assessed. " You automatically go to this rule you can't pick one. You don't pick one. You Have to go to that Rule."

Well Despite the Mess up at the end, You can't take away the efforts of both teams. Vince Edwards had 26 points and 5 rebounds. Caleb SWANIGAN had 16 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists before fouling out. And Carsen Edwards had 13 points, one rebound and 4 assists. So Purdue won this battle tonight. But Indiana had a couple of stars in this Losing effort. Thomas Bryant had 23 points, 3 rebounds and one assist. James Blackmon Came back form a leg injury to put up 11 points, 3 rebound and 4 assists. So where do we stand now going forward, Purdue is now 20-5 and 9-3 in the Big 10 and they are a lock for the NCAA tournament and they Might get a 4 or 5 seed if they go far in the Big 10 tournament. The Boilermakers have a week off before they play Rutgers on Tuesday. As for Indiana this loss was a BIG BLOW because before the game they were projected as one of the last 4 in the Field of 68. The Hoosiers are now 15-10 and 5-7 in the Big 10. They Have A lot of work to do because they have Michigan At Home On Saturday.

And last thing before I go. Let's be thankful that neither Bobby Knight or Gene KEADY were coaching this game last night. Here's my take, there should be some action taken against the officials or the Big 10 needs to take a look at what happened and the officials should be ashamed of themselves after what happened with the double foul towards the end of the game. The Fans Took to Twitter after the bad call to call it a "Weak Call" and it was a weak call. But Could you imagine if Either Bobby Knight Or Gene KEADY were coaching in this game. Oh My Word it would have been Ugly. Both Knight and KEADY would have dropped some many F Bombs and SH Bombs that the Press conference would have been called off. And I would guarantee you all of the chairs would have either be thrown across the free thrown line or would have been thrown at all of the officials and the fans would have had a riot afterwards. Knight and KEADY would have probably Double Heart Attacks and the EMS Squads would have had to take them both to the hospital. They would have treated Knight on The Spot while KEADY would have had to wait because they hate him in Bloomington. But that's all history now. And Let's Be Thankful for that. Well There's nothing more for me to say about this new chapter in the Purdue-Indiana Basketball Rivalry. So I am signing off for now and I will see you later.
