Lucha Underground Results for 11-30-2016: Pentagon Dark Runs a Gauntlet
Eventually everyone has to pay for their sins.On this edition of "Lucha Underground," Pentagon Dark was scheduled to run the gauntlet against the entire Black Lotus Triad. Before that began, however, Dark bumped into Vampiro in the backstage halls of The Temple. There, the retired wrestler told his former pupil that, eventually, everyone pays for their sins. Dark dismissed his former master's words, and continued his walk to the ring.
For those whom have never seen a gauntlet match, a wrestler, tag team, or group, begins a match against an opponent, if they beat that opponent, another one comes out. If the wrestler(s) running the gauntlet beat that opponent, another opponent follows the second one, this continues until the gauntlet-running-wrestler(s) lose a match or defeat all scheduled opponents. Now, those rules are for a traditional gauntlet match. As we know, Dario Cueto isn't too traditional, and he booked Dark to face all four members of the Black Lotus Triad, regardless if he loses at any point in the gauntlet.
Gauntlet Match 1 - Pentagon Dark vs. Doku: Though we may not know the Black Lotus Triad members, other than the leader, we knew they weren't going to be some chumpettes, and this first match proved it. Doku came hard at Dark, and one can say that he was fortunate to escape the first gauntlet match with a victory. Dark pulled out the win when he caught Doku's arm after her second elbow drop attempt, and set her up for his arm breaker. Dark then pulled the new wrestler's arm back, and broke Doku's arm, forcing the referee to end the match.
Gauntlet Match 2 - vs. Yurei: While Doku was a bit more ground-based, Yurei loved to take things to the air. However, she tried one too many aerial maneuvers, and that cost her the second gauntlet match. Yurei tried a somersault on Dark from the top rope, but the Mexican wrestler caught her and drove her down with a package piledriver. The dark one then set her up as he does everyone, and broke her arm as well.
Gauntlet Match 3 - vs. Hitokiri: All I can say about Hitokiri is, that she is down to take some shots, and is clearly the most hardcore of the Triad. Almost immediately, she took the fight to the outside, where she took her hits as well. Through toughness or will, she came back from being thrown into a row of chairs, and showed some extreme bravery. Like Angelico before her, Hitokiri climbed onto the roof of Dario's office, and splashed onto Dark seconds later. Having dazed him, Hitokiri then threw Dark back in to the ring, and gave him a Gravity Destroyer. She then covered Dark, and scored the pinfall.
Gauntlet Match 4 - vs. Black Lotus: As Lotus walked down the stairs of The Temple, Dark laid still inside the ring. He was so exhausted and beaten down by the previous three matches, that he couldn't even attempt to stand up. When Lotus finally entered the ring, she didn't bother with an official match. She superkicked the referee before he could ring the bell and then stood over a laid out Dark. The Triad Leader then wrapped his left arm around one of her legs, and the crowd murmured, knowing what was coming next. Lotus proceeded to grab Dark's right arm, extended it, and pulled back. Dark had now felt the pain of all the people whose arms he had broken. Unfortunately, the dark one's troubles didn't end there. The music of Dragon Azteca, Jr. came over the Temple speakers, and he soon made his way to the ring. Though he has beef with Black Lotus, she and the rest of her faction left the ring when he arrived. Once the ring was cleared of them, Azteca turned his attention to Dark. Uncharacteristically of him, Azteca stepped on the broken arm of Dark. Needless to say, the dark wrestler screamed in agony. Azteca then grabbed Dark's left arm, and in Spanish yelled out, "This is my vengeance!" Azteca then pulled back the left arm of Dark, and broke it. From the commentary table, Vampiro could be heard saying that you reap what you sow.
As unexpected as that was, the final segment was just as surprising. Prince Puma was shown lying motionless in an open coffin. He opened his eyes, and immediately scanned his surroundings. Then, Vampiro came in to the picture. He smiled, and the show ended there.
