NHL Rumour Mill: Cam Fowler [Trade to Bruins?] & Ducks Free Agents
Due to recent reports from TSN's Bob McKenzie and other NHL analysts, the possibility of Cam Fowler being traded has arisen. On thursday afternoon, Bob McKenzie stated the following regarding Anaheim and their need to move a key piece in order to make room for Lindholm:
"they’re going to have to move somebody. We’ve all suspected for awhile – we don’t know if it’s true or not, it’s all speculation – but I think that somebody could very well be Cam Fowler."
Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell are still unsigned by the Anaheim Ducks. Over the past few days we have become aware of the fact that it will take around $9 million per season for the Ducks to re-sign Lindholm and Rakell. Unfortunately for them, they have a depleted amount of salary cap space. This could push Anaheim to move Fowler and his contract out the door.
Can't imagine Lindholm (ANA) signs for less than Ristolainen (BUF). On 6-yr deal, BUF bought one yr of UFA. Lindholm would be giving up 2.

Just a couple weeks ago it had looked like the Ducks and Rickard Rakell were close on a six-year deal worth almost $4 million per/season, but negotiations have dampened down since then and there has been no explanation from either side as to why the deal didn't go through.
According to Jimmy Murphy, a freelance journalist at Vice Sports, The Boston Bruins have recently inquired about Cam Fowler. Since neither Lindholm nor Rakell have been signed, we will have to wait and see how the Ducks plan on sorting this situation out.
