NHL Rumour Round-Up: Jacob Trouba to Wings/Bolts/Yotes

As the 2016-2017 NHL season approaches, the NHL rumour mill has began to churn once again. This week, Winnipeg Jets defensemen Jacob Trouba has had his name thrown around on more than one occasion. Trouba was drafted by the Jets in the first round, ninth overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, and has been turning heads ever since.

His contract, currently pegged at $832,500 USD as of 2016, will see a significant boost if he decides to leave Winnipeg, where he has no contractural restrictions. This means that Jacob Trouba has no mandatory obligation to attend the Jets camp.

The three teams that have shown the most interest in Trouba include:

The Detroit Red Wings: According to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun, Trouba has said that he’ll train and skate in Detroit.

The Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning have shown considerable interest in Trouba, and have the pieces to trade for him if he fits within their budget.

The Arizona Coyotes: Per Craig Morgan of AZ Sports, the Coyotes have been interested in/continue to be interested in the young Jets forward.
