Top 10 Players: 2016-2017 Projections

1. Sidney Crosby, C

Continues to be arguably the best all-around player in the NHL. His play-making ability and constant production on the ice makes him a favorable first overall pick for any fantasy owner.

2. Patrick Kane, RW

Last season may have been the peak of Kane's career, but you'd be wrong to think that this year will be much different. We all know he can score, and can play through pretty much anything (especially off-ice problems), so he will be a reliable second if not first overall pick in your draft.

3. Jamie Benn, LW

As long as Jamie Benn keeps producing with Seguin by his side, this powerhouse forward is a must have for your team. Watch out for other owners to swap McDavid and Benn on draft day, but as of now Jamie Benn is a dominant third pick that can lead your team to victory.

4. Connor McDavid, C

Entering his second season as a pro, McDavid is looking to stay healthy and maintain his insane goal scoring ability for as many games as possible. If he had stayed healthy for the Oilers all season last year, Panarin would be kissing the Calder trophy goodbye.

5. Alex Ovechkin, LW

He might not pass as often as fantasy owners would like him to, but there's no denying Ovi's goal-scoring touch. He should remain as a top 5 pick in your draft, but look for him to possibly come in behind McDavid and Benn. Reliability is key, which is something Ovechkin is relatively consistent with.

6. John Tavares, C

A strong centre man who has never had a below-average season in his career. Tavares will continue to be a top 10 pick for years to come.

7. Braden Holtby, G

Projected to bring in more production for your team this year than Price, with credit going to the team he has in front of him. If the tables were turned, it would be Price who would be filling the 7th slot.

8. Erik Karlsson, D

Karlsson is in a whole league of his own when it comes down to overall point production from a defenseman. His speed and ability to move the puck up the ice in a matter of seconds puts him ahead of Shea Weber and Brent Burns fantasy-wise.

9. Vladimir Tarasenko, RW

The skill of Vladimir Tarasenko has rocketed over the past three seasons, and it doesn’t look like he's going to hit a limit any time soon. It already feels like Tarasenko is beginning to leave the likes of Ovechkin in the rearview mirror.

10. Carey Price, G

Trying to score on Carey Prices is comparable to shooting a puck at a brick wall. Holtby and Price are by far the top two goaltenders in the NHL, and Price practically leads the Habs to wins each season. Consistency and skill makes Price a strong pick for your fantasy team.
