DeMarco Murray "Cries" to the Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie!

ESPN reported that star running back, DeMarco Murray who signed a five-year, $40 million ($21 million guaranteed) contract this past offseason had a meeting with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie on Sunday on the team's chartered flight home after the game. Murray who was demoted to the fourth running back on Sunday was frustrated with the lack of touches, he had only eight carries for 24 yards (14 snaps) against the Patriots.

Chip Kelly on Tuesday said that the Eagles will use a 'running back by committee" approach, which will depend on the weekly matchups and health he says. Ryan Matthews, who has missed the last three games due to a concussion, was back practicing on Tuesday.

Chip Kelly on the Running back situation:

Chip Kelly

"It's a good problem to have when you have some backs that when you used all three of them (Murray, Matthews and Sproles), all three of them are productive for you, 'Kelly said. "Again, it's always, as you figure out the week, who you're playing and what you're got available to you."

Kelly after Sunday's win said he liked the matchup of smaller, quicker backs against New England's bigger linebackers. Darren Sproles gained 66 yards (15 carries) and Kenjon Barner 39 yards (9 carries). This week the Eagles play the Buffalo Bills and their tough front seven so it will be interesting how Kelly uses all four or three depending on the status of Ryan Matthews.  Will he really do by "matchups" or will Murray continue to get less carries and possibly not even see the field. Who knows how Kelly really feels about Murray going to Lurie.

There's one player on the Eagles that will never go to Jeffery to voice his displeasure and its fellow running back, Darren Sproles. Sproles was asked about Murray going to Lurie about his frustrations over the lack of touches and Sproles said no here would never got to him.

What DeMarco Murray said to Jeffery Lurie. Its reported by ESPN's Ed Werder that he (Murray) told him that Kelly broke promises. Promises while the Eagles were trying to convince him to sign with them in March.

According to the report, Murray said he thinks he isn't a good fit for Kelly's offense and that changes haven't been made to accommodate Murray's running style. Murray thinks it's "strange" that he didn't play much Sunday.

Here's what Chip Kelly had to say about Murray meeting with Lurie:

"He didn't have a meeting with [Lurie]," Kelly during a press conference call with reporters ahead of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, via NFL.com's Albert Breer. "He just happened to be sitting next to him on the plane. It wasn't orchestrated."

My take on this is that it's been a bad marriage. Now looking back at it, it was a terrible signing for both sides. At first I loved the signing because DeMarco Murray was the number one running back on the free agent market. It just hasn't worked out here. I partly blame Kelly for not making the necessary adjustments to fit Murray's running style which is a north, south downhill runner not an east-west spread runner where he needs to make defenses misses like Shady use to do. Murray can't make defenses miss, he did in college but that's when he was 19 years old.  I don't get why Kelly couldn't use the I-Formation when Murray is in the game that's what fits his running style.

Finally, the Eagles need to see if any team would take him on but it will be hard because he makes so much money. They can't cut him so that's out of the question if they did it would be very costly as he makes he is guaranteed $7 million next season, $7.5 million in 2017 ($2 million guaranteed; another $3 million guaranteed the fifth year of the league year), $8 million in 2018 and 2019. And if they were to release him they would risk one of the other NFC east teams signing him including his old team the Dallas Cowboys. I would try to trade him for a second or third round pick and maybe a QB, my idea is to call the Cleveland Browns and see if they're willing to trade Johnny Manziel (who I don't want) but could see Kelly actually trying to get him. So why not see if Browns would take Murray just saying. Don't get it twisted I do not want Johnny Football (Manziel) at all, I'm just simply putting out an suggestion, which I don't think will happen. At the end of the day this marriage either needs end or Kelly needs accommodate to Murray's running style somehow.
