Reality Check, The Arizona Cardinals Crush the Eagles!

Jeffrey G. Pittenger-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals went into Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football and ran all of the Eagles, beating the them 40-17. The Eagles came into the game on a two game win streak beating the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills the last two games. The Arizona Cardinals on the other hand came into the game on a seven game winning streak.

The Cardinals got the ball to start the game and in just eight plays they score a touchdown. Rookie running back, David Johnson scored the touchdown, it would be the first of his three touchdowns on the night and 12th overall touchdown of the season (5th rushing TD). The Eagles got the ball and weren't able to score a touchdown but got a field goal instead to make it 7-3. The Cardinals next drive they get a field goal themselves to make it 10-3. That would be the score after one quarter of play.

The second quarter the two teams traded punts. The Eagles second drive of the second quarter they go down field in just four plays and score a touchdown to tie the game at 10. It was a TD pass from Sam Bradford to Zach Ertz. The two teams trade punts again. With just little over five minutes left in the half the Cardinals go down field in three plays and score touchdown to take the lead 17-10. The Eagles get the ball with four minutes left, they would go down field and had a chance to get some points but failed to do so as they went for it on a fourth and one.

The Eagles started the second half with the ball and didn't do anything with it punted just after four plays. The Cardinals first drive of the second half they go down field in just eight plays and score anothe touchdown it would be David Johnson's third touchdown of the game. The Eagles would turn the ball over on their next three drives two fumbles and interception. After the Eagles fumbled the ball the seoncd time, the Cardinals would go and score another touchdown in just three plays. It was a 16 yard TD pass by John Brown from Carson Palmer.

Cardinals' Safety, Deone Bucannon would intercept a Bradford pass and would take it to the house for a TD and the Cardinals would lead 37-10 early in the fourth. The Eagles next drive would only take 18 seconds in one play; It was a 78 yard TD catch by Jordon Matthews from Sam Bradford. The Cards would get a late field goal to make it 40-17.

My thoughts on the game is that the Eagles aren't good enough to beat an elite team like the Arizona Cardinals, yes they beat the New England Patriots in their home field but they didn't have their star Tight End, Rob Gronkowski and if they had him they probably would've loss that game. The last two wins prior to Sunday night was a fluke, false hope, fools gold. The Cardinals gave the Eagles a reality check making a statement on national TV basically telling them they're not on the same level as them. This was the third time in five games that the Eagles got blown out and the second time at home and second time on national TV.

Finally, with the win the Cardinals clinch the NFC West division, it was their first division title since 2009. The Cards can clinch a bye week with a win over the Green Bay Packers next Sunday. As for as the Eagles are concern they must beat the Redskins in order to stay in the hunt for NFC East division title. The Redskins can win the NFC East with a win this Saturday night in South Philadelphia in week 16. Saturday night, will be the most important game in the Chip Kelly ERA, it will have that playoff feel to it which should make for a good game between two division rivals.
