RAW Results for 11-21-2016: Goldberg Makes a Major Announcement, Universal Title Match

Incredibly, the biggest news of the night happened at the top of the show.

Goldberg made his way to the ring and immediately grabbed a microphone.  He said that RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon had asked if he had one more match in him.  He then said that Stephanie asked him if he had one more title run in him.  He said that he told her yes.  That is when he told everyone that he was going to be a part of the 2017 Royal Rumble match, where 29 other men would be next.

Match 1 - New Day vs. Cesaro and Sheamus: Cesaro had Kofi Kingston in the Sharpshooter, and that prompted Xavier Woods to jump on the apron.  Cesaro let go of Kingston and ran off Woods.  Kingston then grabbed the "Swiss Superman" and put him in an inside cradle small package.  The three-count was then made, and New Day were the victors.

I got back for the first backstage segment a little late, but I saw that Enzo Amore was walking around naked in the back--things were blurred out, by the way.  He kept walking until he bumped in to Lana.  There, he teasingly asked her, "How ya doin'?"  Rusev came upon the scene, and he angrily yelled at Enzo for not having any clothes on.  Cass entered the frame next, and tried to calm things down.  Rusev wasn't having it, and said that he would see Amore in the ring.

Match 2 - Cedric Alexander vs. Ariya Daivari: Alexander delivered the Lumbar Check to Daivari and covered him for the pinfall win.

Match 3 - Rusev w/ Lana vs. Enzo Amore w/ Big Cass: The "Bulgarian Brute" must have been extremely angry at Amore because he completely squashed him.  Within a minute, Rusev had put Enzo in The Accolade and made him submit.  He only let go once Cass entered the ring.

In the back, Sami Zayn was called in to Commissioner Stephanie McMahons' office.  She was disappointed with him due to not bringing the Intercontinental Championship to RAW, and said that he had to punished.  That's when she booked him in a match against Braun Strowman.

Match 4 - Winner Faces New Day for the RAW Tag Team Championship next week, Golden Truth vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson: This match wasn't the longest one in the world, and it was ended when Goldust took the Magic Killer and was pinned by Gallows.  The former Bullet Club members will face New Day for the tag team belts next Monday.

Match 5 - Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman: Strowman got the upper hand on the "Underdog from the Underground," and incapacitated him.  However, he didn't bother trying to pin him, preferring to keep the beating going.  Eventually, General Manager Mick Foley came out and ordered Strowman to stop.  The match was awarded to Strowman by knockout.

Charlotte hit the ring next with Dana Brooke in tow, and she once again touted herself as the queen of WWE.  Sasha Banks interrupted the party, and asked Charlotte when her title rematch was coming.  Nia Jax then came out, and her focus was on Banks.  She said that she didn't like her and that she was nobody's boss.  A brawl soon broke out, and the numbers prompted Bayley to runout and try to even things out.  At a stalemate, the show went to commercial.

Match 6 - Charlotte & Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks & Bayley: Banks finished the match off by making Charlotte submit to the Bank Statement.

Match 7 - Winner Faces Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship next week, Rich Swann vs. Noam Dar vs. T.J. Perkins: Swann delivered a roundhouse kick to Dar and pinned him immediately afterwards.

Main Event - WWE Universal Championship, Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins: In the match's final minutes, Owens and Rollins had ended up on the outside.  They fought in the stands for a while, before Owens jumped back over the barricade.  Rollins was going to follow suit, but a person with a Sin Cara mask came from the crowd and began to punch "The Architect."  Rollins took a hold of the fan and pulled the mask off.  It turned out to be Chris Jericho.  Unfortunately for Rollins, Owens pounced on him as soon as he got rid of Jericho, and was given an apron powerbomb.  He was then rolled in to the ring and pinned for the three-count.  Owens had retained his belt once again.
