Donnelly and Hutmacher look like MEN on MISSIONS
Leading in the third period of last year's State B wrestling tournament, Philip's Nick Donnelly saw an elusive state title slip through his fingers as Parkston's Blake Bietz turned the tables, winning the match 7-5.
Only guessing here but those kinds of losses stick with you, they eat at you at night and they push you to that NEXT level, when you're training.
Well, if this weekend's Rapid City Invitational tells us anything it's that Philip's Nick Donnelly, looks like he's on a mission. It's one thing to place at the Rapid City Invite, it's another to win the tournament, and it's an entirely new stratosphere when you pin your way through this monstrous event.
Donnelly, pinned his way through this tournament.
First round, pinned Kaleb Nelson of Sioux Falls Washington - 1:07
Round 2 - PInned Justin Herz of Williston ND - 3:10
Quarters - Pinned Blake Larson of Huron - 1:48
Semis - Pinned Colin Haar of Aberdeen Central - 1:09
Finals - Pinned Trent Francorn of Huron at the 1:23
That's unbelievable baby!
Haar was 7th in the Class A 145 pound class a year ago and Francorn was runner-up at 145 pounds in the Class A tournament.
Rapid City tournament, you've been Hutmachered....
Continue to just be amazed by what this young fella, Nash Hutacher is doing as a freshman at Chamberlain.
Again, it's one thing to place at Rapid City, it's another thing to make the finals and it's another thing to win the tournament. To win the 285 pound class, and pin every opponent and do this at Hutacher's age....Beyond describable....really a special effort.

So, yesterday authored up a blog about the Pierre wrestling team and sent it a gal-pal of mine in Pierre, Michelle Olson/Mikkelsen...We chatted for a minute and she told me what I thought was a really interesting tidbit about PIerre 195 pounder, Spencer Sarringer, who captured the 195 pound title in Rapid City.
Sarringer is the son of former Kadoka standout, Joanne Herber from Kadoka. Herber was a terrific basketball and volleyball player but she really excelled on the track being one of the premier runners from that area and that era, which I believe was early to mid 80's.
